Hi,
I have a machine with SuSE Linux OSS 10.0 and I have a question. I am
trying to place on the same card several ip's in order to have a DMZ
and a intranet zone in my home computer. The problem is that using
yast2 config panel one can add ip's to an ethernet interface but then
they do not even show up on the firewall configuration panel. Does
anyone know how to configure the firewall with ip alias in SuSE 10?
This is because YaST is *** stupid. Seriously. It has *NO CLUE WHATSOEVER*
about the most elementary configurations that are even slightly apart from
the norm conceived by their particular software author, and it violates
various software author's ideas about how things should be written in favor
of SuSE specific configurations that are undocumented, unsupported by SuSE,
and flat-out dumb. (Take a look at their kernel SRPM's for examples of
this.)
However, I suggest you install and use "webmin" for most things YaST does,
and install "fou4s" for the package management. Then I suggest you get an el
cheapo network to provide a second network interface to provide physical
separation between the DMZ and intranet subnets.
