I realise things have changed but, through around 1997, my main X11
workstation console + shared ssh server + Web/ftp server was a 486DX2/66
EISA/VLB box with 64MB total RAM. It lived on my building's T-1 line in
San Francisco, and survived a couple of Slashdottings without a lot of
strain. (E.g., it served up image files from a couple of early SVLUG
publicity events.)
It ran fvwm2, in can you're curious. ;-> And yes, I think Slackware, back
then.
