dear friends
thanks for replying. but you got my problem wrong. I have to
different CD's one is the debian installer CD part 1 and the second one
is a regional flavour of morphix live cd which is in indian langauages
hindi, bengali etc.
Now both CD's after initial boot hang saying that i need to pass
correct root=? argument. I suppose that some sort of renference to
temporary root folder has to passed.
it would be great if can work the Live CD as most people think that
computers exist in english only if they get it in their local language
they will go crazy.
What is your local language?
Please post size of hard drive and type of connection to Internet, if
possible.
later,
charles.....
please please tell me how i can use these Cd's
pressing F1 doens't do anything in my case.
i downloaded the installer debian cd first but it didn't work like the
above ones i suppose these little things are looking for RW access and
thinking that they are booting from HD.
Please help, I am dying to use them.
Dear Charles
Thanks for writing in. I am from India and there are many local
languages here atleast 800+ and i don't think there would be linux
distributions for all of them anytime in this century.
But the main language and generally understood everywhere is Hindi and
the rangoli live CD supported 4-5 indian languages but it wouldn't work
on mine due heavy ram consumption.
Well my computer uses SDRAM slot and as i have stated in my previous
post it is 32 megs in size. Very old configration but when bought was
the upto-date version in 1998. I have no problems with them other than
that i can't use linux. and indeed rams are very cheap but the required
sdram isn't available in my locality due to technology advancement.
old rams are not bought here.
I have a broadband connection 256kbs and i get to download only at
night as the day brings its own troubles for this faint hearted.
My Hardisk is (hold your breath) 2gb !!! and i am using it to download
,run do all the stuff. i would like to update the bios so that i can
add 80 gb hardisk. the oldboys harddisk is getting nosier by day and i
think it would't last 1 year more. can you help me with that.
ever noticed that linux too is getting resource hungry like windows.
It would be very nice if i could download old linux goodies and
softwares. but to search for them is very cumbersome for me. it would
be great if if there were old versions of office and other stuff
available for download which requried very small memory and would run
on systems like mine.
Well guys thanks a lot for your kind support.
