Re: Fedora Command Line configuration tool

In comp.os.linux.setup te@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx:
I'm not one to install GUI's for my servers and have been using SuSE
lately and love how to quickly do some quick admin'ing using the
command (ANSI) version of YaST. Especially like my FW rules,
start/stop service configurations, etc....

From my experience with it (since suse 4.2) the most broken admin
tool I have ever seen. Better avoid it like a plague.

I have started looking at Fedora and was wondering if there was
anything like this for Fedora? The only thing I seen was the
system-config files but it appears to need to a GUI.

I can do everything manually, mv s to S in the /etc/rcx.x directories,

Why would you do so? 'chkconfig' does the job for you on quite a
few distro.

edit the ipf, etc.... Just looking for something a little quicker.

Enter "redhat-config", no that will just work on RH, try
"system-config" and tab twice and you should see what is
available to you on Fedora Core. Perhaps all have a ncurses
version in addition to the GUI. Just try it out, not that I have
really used one of them, perhaps started one or two just to have
a look.

There's a tool called 'lokkit' for firewall configuration, not
that I could recommend it, never used.

Generally prefer to edit config files using vi(m).

Good luck
