distro's still no luck.
any ideas???
Have you had any building work done in your house recently?
Might sound like a stupid question, but when I suddenly found myself
unable to burn ISOs it turned out to be plaster dust which had got
inside the CDRW. I never did work out how it got all the way from the
bathroom (which was being renovated) to the PC in the study (which is
the other end of the house), but it was definitely there. Everything
would *appear* fine, the burn would seem fine, Nero would even verify
the data, but it wouldn't read in any other drive.
If your CD burner is more than ~4 years old you could do worse than
replace it anyway. Who knows what might have got inside it. (My
brother's dead burner turned out to have chocolate in it - he must have
dropped a fragment just as he was closing the tray ...)
Just my 2p,
