Background info:
P4, system Mandriva 2006, kernel 2.6.12-12mdk,
Sound card SB Live!
Problem:
Sound works with mic and earphones plugged into jacks at front
of machine but no sound from computer speakers. XP system on
same computer does the reverse, no sound in earphones - main
speakers ok.
Query 1:
Would installation of the following downloaded kernel
kernel-multimedia-2.6.12-12.mm.1mdk-1-1mdk.i586.rpm
automatically modify lilo to include this as a boot option as
well as the current linux options and the XP option?
Yes.
Query 2:
Would this solve the problem?
Probably not.
The SBlive is a bog-standard soundcard, which should hae been supported a
long time ago. If it is not, then there is probably some hardware
weirdness.
Any help would be appreciated..
