Hello there.
I am a Linux newbie. I just recently installed Kubuntu and am now
trying to install libxine-extracodecs (mp3 support). The thing is,
libxine-extracodecs depends on libxine-main1. When I try to install
libxine-main1 like this:
sudo dpkg -i libxine-main1
it says that it won't install it because libxine-main1 conflicts with
another package used by kamarok.
By the way, I have to download install all those packages manually
right now. Doing everything manually is such a pain in the ***.
You don't mention why you must install everything manually. Ubuntu has
Synaptic, a built in package manager accessible via the gui menu. Get
the gui running might be a good idea.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? What do I do if I need to
install package A that conflicts with package B, and there are tons of
other packages that depend on package B?
Also check the documentation at <https://help.ubuntu.com/community/>
