Hi there,
You don't write why you want this package installed except mp3 support.
Perhaps you read somewhere that it is needed. I think you read an
Ubuntu feed, I think I sound like Mango Parfait...hehe
Anyway, check this site out, probably will help you far better than I
can and also lead you in the proper direction:
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy - if you don't use Edgy but eg
Dapper, then make sure you jump into the right page.
Cheers and welcome to kubuntu, schweet stuff!

Hello there.
I am a Linux newbie. I just recently installed Kubuntu and am now
trying to install libxine-extracodecs (mp3 support). The thing is,
libxine-extracodecs depends on libxine-main1. When I try to install
libxine-main1 like this:
sudo dpkg -i libxine-main1
it says that it won't install it because libxine-main1 conflicts with
another package used by kamarok.
By the way, I have to download install all those packages manually
right now. Doing everything manually is such a pain in the ***.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? What do I do if I need to
install package A that conflicts with package B, and there are tons of
other packages that depend on package B?
.
