I am aware of Synaptic. Still, it's no use if I don't have an internet
connection available in Kubuntu (I am writing from another computer

Okay, so then my assumption is you're downloading packages to some
media and then transferring it to your computer. You can uncheck the
internet repositories in Synaptic and add cd's as source. Again though,
you don't give a lot of information to go on.


I wonder what those package managers do when there's a problem with
conflicting packages. I thought I could be able to manually 'reproduce'
what the managers would normally do.
