Hi Guys,
I decided to put Linux ubuntu on my computer on a new HDD, installed it
but when it rebooted the ubuntu Linux never restarted just got the
message GRUB LOADING STAGE 1.5 Error. So re-installed it but got the
same error message, so I thought I would give it another go and
formatted it and installed it again, now I get another error GRUB
Loading Stage2 read error. Now I can't access the HDD, how do I
access the HDD and fix the problem.
This is Linux, it is pretty unlikely one or multiple
reboots/reinstalls will fix your problem.
I'd boot from rescue CD, many distro boot CD can work as rescue
CD, mount your fs if the rescue CD doesn't do it, like RH/Fedora
Core will perform for you, search for a RH/FC installation and
mount it in /mnt/sysimage. If you boot from CD and enter "linux
rescue" at the prompt. Check the ubuntu docs how to go about
booting from CD/DVD in rescue mode.
The you need to check your bootloader config, fix it and
reinstall it. First check man pages/google search what "GRUB
LOADING STAGE 1.5 Error" really means and to which problem it
hints. You are not alone, it is pretty likely other ran into the
problem before. Dunno much about grub, I use lilo.
Good luck
