This is the 3rd LAN issue. One of the main purposes of this machine is to
provide a backup repository for the other machines on the LAN, most of

are running Windows XP pro. I already have a machine on t he LAN serving
this purpose, and this machine wil replace the old one. The other is
running just fine under Debian Woody. I tried both setting up this
machine from scratch and also copying /etc/smb.config over from the other
machine,
but nothing seems to work. The Windows machines all see the Linux machine
itself, but the drive share is not visible. If I try to explore the Linux
share, the system prompts me for a password under user Guest, and nothing
I
try will allow the share to be mounted on the XP machine. Here is the
smb.config which works fine under the old system:

Have you created the appropriate users with adduser and smbpasswd ?
