Fedora Core 6

Something keeps accessing the hard drive every 10 seconds approx.
I don't believe it is hardware related as the hardware is new and it doesn't
occur when booted to winxp. (I am going to wipe xp when the warranty is
over).
Is there a way to tell what is causing the access to the drive?
Some kind on monitor?
I tried google but I couldn't figure out a good search string :(.
Anyway thanks
