I have just installed Fedora Core 8, read all the autofs, automount, and

man pages.
From what I can tell, the automount daemon should be determining
automount location
from /etc/auto.master. My /etc/auto.master specifies /misc/... as the
home directory
for CDROM and DVD drives.
However, everything that automounts mounts to /media. I can't find a
reference to
/media in any file under /etc. I have no idea where automount is
determining
/media as the mount location.
Can anyone explain? Thanks!
What does your /etc/nsswitch.conf have in it for the automount
entry?
The mounting under /media isn't (usually) controlled by autofs. It's
usually handled by hotplugging (hald).
Let me clarify, hal actually uses some kind of outside assist
to do the mounting, but that action is triggered via hald.
