48 lba Addressing

hi
i want to write kernel module for 250 G.B. Hard Drive to detect
harddisk, so plz tell me how do i achieve 48 lba addressing, how can i
fill the tfregister & hobregister for 48 lba addressing, any one knows
plz tell me,thanks
