New User Account

I just installed Linux Mint 12 KDE 64-bit and even though following the 'prompts' am unable to add a new user account.

In Users & Group Administration ==> New User Account I change/add the Login Name and the Real Name and also add a Password (seemingly) successfully. But when logging out/in the new user account does not show on the desktop. I tried several times and googled/searched forums but no luck.

Request assistance to establish a New User Account... Thanks.
