I have a machine that's on the other side of the room. I want to
control its keyboard and mouse over the network. A VNC server that
works like VNC does on Windows would work great for this. But if this
does not exist, I'm looking for any solution that lets me control the
keyboard and mouse in X over the network.

I realize that keyboard and mouse cables can be very long and I
realize that there are (grossly insecure) wireless keyboards and mice
on the market. Neither of these solutions are what I am looking for.
I'm looking for a software soltuion.
