Hello,
Recently after fighting abit with DPMS and APM i got my box to put my
monitor into standby, and this was by adding 'Option "DPMS"' in the
Monitor section of XF86Config.
with that, came also another trouble. after toggling on this feature,
X tries to blank itself after some time, and that i understand from
the output of 'xset q' :
Screen Saver:
prefer blanking: yes allow exposures: yes
timeout: 0 cycle: 600
Even though it's 0, it's still blanking.
whenever it tries to blank, kde is stuck and i cant kill the server or
anything, though the computer is still running.
running 'xset s noblank' solves the problem, but i wonder if there's a
nicer way of doing it, yet this is a workaround.
I searched abit about XF86Config, but the only option related to this
context was :
Option "BlankTime", which i tried setting to 0, and it sets it to 0 as
you can see from the 'xset q' output.
I'm pretty much of clueless and trying to find a way correcting the
situation with a clean sollution.
My hardware consists of a Duron CPU, a Geforce4mx GPU and a LG F900B
monitor (if relevant).
Regards,
Dan.
