    two suggestions have been made aboutmy problem of not being able to switch
    from one terminal to another via the old "ctrl-alt-fx" trick: (a) re-run
    sax2 (after all, I have installed a new video card) and (b) re-run the
    NVidia graphics driver installation.

    I'm trying to carry out (a) and discovered something is messed in my perl
    setup (I think). when I run sax2 from a terminal (no X running), I get the
    error message (here brutally wrapped):

    SaX: detecting please wait...
    Can't locate Storable.pm in @INC (@INC contains:
    /usr/X11R6/lib/sax/modules /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1/i586-linux
    /usr/lib/perl5/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/i586-linux
    /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl .) at
    /usr/X11R6/lib/sax/init.pl line 16.
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/X11R6/lib/sax/init.pl

    I am googling around to get info about Storable.pm but I'm not quite yet
    making sense of the problem. I can't (yet) find it on CPAN.

    I had a catastrophic system crash and it looks like some files may have
    been corrupted.

    any help on fixing this storage.pm problem or offer of a better
    diagnosis?
