Keyboard double-typing on a Toshiba laptop...

Hey all. I recently got a Toshiba Satellite laptop and installed
Slackware Linux 8.1 on it. Everything works fine but the sound, which
I am currently working on, and a very irritating glitch in X. When
typing quickly, every 4-5 characters one of them gets doubled, typed
twice. A little thing, yeah, but bloody annoying when your typing
speed suddenly has to halve. I've tried resetting the character
repeat rate to no useful effect, and this doesn't happen when in plain
console mode, and happens no matter what WM I'm using, so it's rather
puzzling. I've never run across this before and was wondering if
anyone out there has any idea what's going on.
Thanks a million,
Simon
