What I do is on the host that's to receive the Xwindows output, which is
your Mac (I assume), open up a terminal from the X11 menu (not a shell
terminal) and type "xhost +hostname" and replace hostname with the name of
the host that's running the Xwindows program you want to use, then on that
host, type "setenv DISPLAY hostname" where "hostname is your Mac's hostname.
This assumes you are using the tsh.

The procedure differs somewhat based on the shell you're using and the
method you use to connect.
