switch to a vt console and login as root
export XAUTHORITY=/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xauth
(It is for Mdk 9.2. Use 'ps aux' to check the parameters passed to X
server)
Use ksnapshot or gnome-panel-screenshot --delay=5
You must switch back to gdm right after your execute the snapshot
command, otherwise you will get a blank snapshot.
