    Hi,
    I upgraded my RH8 installation to XFree86 4.3.0
Got the source rpm, installed, it did make and make install.
Now, when I start x(via startx), I get these errors [1]:

    (1) xkbcomp: libXext.so.6: not found
    (2) Could not init font path element unix/:7100,
    (3) xterm: libexpat.so.1: not found

The last one brought me back to the command line.
To resolve these, I set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH to
    .:/usr/local/qt/lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/usr/i386-glibc21-linux:/usr/lib
libXext.so.6 and libexpat.so.1 are both present in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
I'm not logged in as root, but as normal user.

Can anyone suggest what can be done? Is there a default location where these
    libraries should be present?

    Regards
    Alok
