    Hi everyone!

I am not happy with how kudzu manages hardware detection with subsequent
modification of /etc/X11/XF86Config. In the past, on videocard upgrade
or mouse change, kudzu modified my XF86Config file to something that
stopped the X server from starting up.

Is anybody aware of a better way to automate hardware detection? All I
need is to at least edit the XF86Config to the bare minimum required to
start X (a 640x480 resolution with 256 colours will do) and allow the
user to run redhat-config-xfree86 or similar to optimize the
configuration. For this matter, I have been considering to integrate
anaconda's probing routines into a driver program to be run at
runtime... could this be done, or has it been done before?!
