twm && font issues

    I have this odd issue. Fresh xf86 and twm.

    The title bars are 'large' in height and missing text elements. The left
    menu has slots for items (and the items work) just there's no way of telling
    which elements do what since the text is missing. It's all about memory. The
    xterm window's content is fine so as far as I can tell it's just x's way of
    handling of fonts at this point. Can someone point me in a direction to
    troubleshoot this.
