will the command: rm -r /etc/X11/* be a good idea

I am trying to fix X in a debian distribution. I am
having trouble removing files using apt because of
dependency issues.

What about the command:

 rm -r /etc/X11/*

Will it give me a fresh start?

Or will it mess up the whole works?
