XFree86 Breaks gpm

Yes, this is another XFree86 and gpm mouse problem. But this one's got
a twist compared to all the others I could find.

My IntelliMouse works fine in X. It's when I quit, and return to the
console (or switch with Alt+Ctrl+Fn), then it starts acting weird. It
kinda stays on the top line and selects text at random when I move it.
Plus it inserts text on to the command line without pressing any
buttons.

As I said, it's an IntelliMouse. I start gpm with: gpm -m /dev/mouse
-t ps2.

My XFree86Config has: Protocol IMPS/2 and Device /dev/mouse.

I have tried using the 'repeater' on gpm and that works. No problems
switching back to the console. But, then I can't get the wheel to
work.

Also, please don't suggest stopping and starting gpm when I'm using X,
as this isn't a fix. It's a workaround.

I know that the 2 WILL co-exist happily, because they did on my old
server, and they do on my laptop.
