mouse has PS/2 plug, so surely can use PS/2 protocol?

Is it true that with any mouse with a PS/2 plug, one should be able to use
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
(If so, then why not with my Trackman Marble+ ?)
