    For the console, as root (unless you change the ownership of the device file):

    cat /dev/vcs? > file

    Where "?" is the number of the tty...

    If you use the pty manager "screen" (text mode) screenshots are just a
    couple of keystrokes.

    Got to be a way to do this with X.
