erratic touchstick behavior

The touchstick of my notebook has erratic behavior. Whenever I make a
movement, the pointer jumps to the lower left corner of the screen. The
problem only appears after I use the touchstick for the first time. If
I use an external mouse all works fine, until I use the touchstick for
the first time. Once I use the touchstick, it appears as though the
config files get screwed up, but I can't figure out where and why. Any
suggestions?
