Can't connect to x server

Hi,
I am running Linux through VMware and using Exceed (on Windows XP).
Trying to run xterm or other progs returns with "Can't connect to x server..."
I understood that I have to set the DISPLAY variable in
linux to my computer name. But how do I set this name in Windows?
I couldn't find the solution for this anyware.
I want it to be a constant name like 192.168.122.2, for example.
Any help will be highly appreciated :)
I already spent so many time trying to fix this :)
