Getting a Neovo E19-a LCD to work under X

Trying to install this LCD under Fedora core 1 on a machine with a GeForce
4/4200 card. The installer correctly identifies the monitor, and the sync
ranges it chooses match the manufacturer's specs. But the monitor displays
"input signal out of range" when I try to start X. I tried fixing the
syncs at 60, turning down the color depth, and various resolutions to no
avail.
X does work when I fire up Knoppix 3.4, but it won't run at the panel's
native resolution of 1280x1024, so using those settings is not a solution.
Thanks for any tips.
