Artifacts in X

    I'm experiencing strange video artifacts in X, using Fedora Core 1.
    I've posted some images of the issues I'm having.

    1. Grabbing a title bar to move a window:
    The title bar seems to "disintegrate" just under the mouse, leaving a
    trail of pointers and scrambled title bar pieces.

    2. Scrolling using the mouse wheel:
    This action leaves a trail of pointers across the screen.

    3. Disappearing areas of the active screen:
    This appears in all windows, though the image shows only the title
    bar. Moving the mouse from one area of the screen to another leaves a
    dropped-out section in the area in which the mouse rested when the
    window opened.

    The computer is using FC-1, an Intel i740-based video card, a MS
    5-button IntelliMouse Optical mouse, and a 21" Dell (Sony
    Triniton-based) monitor. Resolution is at 1600x1200, 16K.

    Any shared experience with these problems or insights into a solution
    would be greately appreciated.
