Is there a distro in which TV tuner support for the ATI AIW Radeon DDR
32MB or AIW 128 Pro cards works pretty much out-of-the-box? I'm
perfectly willing to wield apt-get, rpm, or anything similar.
I've been trying to get Gatos to work for several years now (ok, trying
occasionally, not continuously ;) and I've had no luck with any of my
PCs with any of the distros I've tried - RedHat, Debian, Mandrake,
Knoppix, Peanut, Vector, Slax, Dyne, with either an All-In-Wonder Radeon
32MB DDR or an AIW 128 Pro.
Most of the how-tos and guides I've found involve lots of complicated or
fiddly steps, like rebuilding X from source, or copying binaries around.
Aside from the fact that something usually seems to go wrong or it
just doesn't work, it irks me that I have to make the system messy by
making changes outside the package management system of whichever distro
I'm using at the time.
It's very frustrating when lspci tell me my card is there and happy, but
gatos's bits just say, "No ATI PCI/AGP Cards ?"
TIA for any help.
