I recently picked up an old machine which has a Diamond Fire GL2 card.
With some help, I was able to track down what appear to be the latest
drivers for the card, for Xfree86 4.2.

The problem is that I happen to have Xfree86 4.3, and the driver is
quite firm about needing 4.2. Can anyone tell me if it's possible to
get Xfree86 to masquerade as an earlier release to the device and, if
so, guess what the chance is that it'll still work?

The generic VESA drivers, by the way, fail miserably with this card.

Thanks,

Derek
