Howdy folks. I have been wrestling with a Debian Woody installation,
and had it working pretty good with a KDE Xwindows application, and a
Gnome desktop manager. A problem was Konqueror's inability to access
https: servers. Since I am running Mozilla-Firefox on a Win98
machine, I figured it was worth a go to install it on the Woody box.

The Firefox version I chose is 0.8-12 (testing). I spent this morning
wading through and installing the dozens of dependencies that were
cited, using Konqueror to access packages.debian.org, loading them on
my user desktop, and installing via dpkg on the command line of a root
    login terminal (via ctrl-alt-F1).

After loading all the depends packages, the final run of the mozilla
package showed a string of messages indicating an inability to find
"libXext.so.6" I rebooted to find that the gdm (Gnome Desktop
Manager) did not load, and that "startx" now produces the error:

libXext.so.6 xauth: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open
shared object file: no such file or directory."

I can't find much reference to libXext.so.6 online, and my Debian
release is on CD only. Anyone been through this, or have input to
    offer? Thanks.
