Slow keyboard repeat in X after upgrade to 2.6

Well, the subject pretty much says it; I finally updated from a 2.4 to a
2.6.19 r6 kernel (gentoo distribution) and now my keyboard repeat is
really slow, in X (Xorg). Not in the boot console, just X.
ANyone know what's going on?
I didn't do any "nice" hacks with xorg.
