I have a Radeon 9600pro and I tried several 2.6.x kernels, fglrx
releases, Slackware and Mandrake, X.org 6.7 and 6.8.1, internal and
external AGP GART configurations, I have POSIX shared memory enabled,
etc. Everything seems fine, but...
Always the same problem. Whenever I try to use an application that uses
OpenGL CPU usage jumps to 100%. That includes glxgears and
fgl_glxgears. DRI and GLX accel is enabled, checked with glxinfo.
There is 3D accel in games, but I experience frequent lockups due to
the high CPU usage.
This is my dmesg|grep fglrx:
fglrx: module license 'Proprietary. (C) 2002 - ATI Technologies,
Starnberg, GERMANY' taints kernel.
[fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 198 MBytes.
[fglrx] module loaded - fglrx 8.10.19 [Feb 9 2005] on minor 0
[fglrx] AGP detected, AgpState = 0x1f000207 (hardware caps of
chipset)
[fglrx] AGP enabled, AgpCommand = 0x1f000304 (selected caps)
[fglrx] free AGP = 21245952
[fglrx] max AGP = 21245952
[fglrx] free LFB = 119533568
[fglrx] max LFB = 119533568
[fglrx] free Inv = 0
[fglrx] max Inv = 0
[fglrx] total Inv = 0
[fglrx] total TIM = 0
[fglrx] total FB = 0
[fglrx] total AGP = 8192
Maybe it has something to do with DMA? Just guessing.
Any ideas?
