Hey everyone.

I'm relatively new to linux, but I'm an old hand (20+) years with Unix
in general and I've used alot of X windows. Recently, I've started
getting serious about using it on my home network and I am boggled by this.

Lets narrow this down to a single PC on a local network.

If I type:

%xterm

it brings up an xterm as one might expect.

If I type:

%xterm -display "localhost:0"

I get a long delay followed by:

xterm Xt error: Can't open display: localhost:0

The same occurs with any display other than ":0.0"...

I have xhost + set, so that should not be the problem.

I have three systems. Two of the 3 behave this way.

Ideas? Is there some sort of authentication or security beyond xhost +
that I may need to do on the 2 broken systems?

Thanks.

Drool
