Hi:
I was trying to run Xorg on a 486 machine with a Trident TGUI9400CXi
video card (VESA local bus). The trident driver man page indicates that
this particular card has not been tested.
My Xserver comes up when I use the generic vga driver, but with 320x200
resolution!
All I get is a black screen when I try to use the trident driver. After
some experimentation, I found that Xorg terminated as it could not find
a suitable mode, but the console is left in a blank state. Even running
setfont does not make the console appear.
I am running Slackware 10.0 and can provide snapshots of xorg.conf and
X.log.0 files, if that would be of use.
Anybody out there who has run into this problem and have solved it? I
searched the archives, but most people reported problems in mid 1990's
when there were many X servers.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
