Not sure, but think it's possible to use xvidtune to change thinngs like this.

The rotation is driver specific, so all depends on which driver you are using.
Things are getting better for each update of the driver, no matter if you use
XFree86 or Xorg (distros that still uses XFree86 usually have the now quite
old version 4.3 and there are many updates in 4.4 or the 6.8.2 version of Xorg).
