kino captured DV is too dark

Is anyone else that's using the Kino video
capture software having trouble with DV grabbed
video being too dark? Both the real time preview
and the captured file played back is too dark
and there's no obvious settings in the preferences
I see for this. Any tips on fixing that,
I've heard there might some kind of plug in?
