Re: Q: X forwarding

Hmm, you're using vncserver instead of KDE Desktop Sharing or the Xvnc
extension or something. This is usually not what people want. The
things I mentioned take :0 and share it via VNC, which is usually what
people like better.

thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into the Desktop Sharing Direction.
Do you have an idea if this could hurt rendering performance?

Huh? Why would you want to do that? It's fairly easy to move an X
client from one display to another with xmove and xmovectrl, but you
have to install xmove, direct all X clients to xmove's pseudo-display,
and so forth. If xmove isn't running, you can't easily move an X client
from one display to another.

yet two more programs I didn't know about :)

I guess I could run the vnc server as x-server 0 but I also need a
local x server.

Or just share :0 via VNC with KDE Desktop Sharing or the Xvnc extension
or the successor to x0rfbserver (I forgot its name, Google remembers).
That's what I do, and it works just fine for the things I need it to do.
YMMV though.

thanks!
