Okay, thanks for you help so far guys. I added a Modeline to my
xorg.conf file the same as J.O. Aho suggested and it worked! I now have
an option on my configure desktop screen for the desired 1280x768
resolution. Here is my xorg.conf file:

The only slight problem is the overall display is slightly blurry, its
not too bad but I think it is because I plugged in the default values
given to me by J.O. Aho. I tried using the link
http://koala.ilog.fr/cgi-bin/nph-colas-modelines but my monitor's
manual is pretty crappy and I do not have any of the values the script
asks for. Is there anything I could do to fine tune it a little?
