S3virge snow

I have an S3 virge DX as a second card. There is snow/pixel corruption on
updates.

Searchign the files, this appears to be an old bug. Has anyone come up
with a combination of pixel depth/refresh rates/etc that eliminates (or at
elast reduces) the snow on the screen?
