change executable icon

There is a manner to change the icon of an executable ?
When I start firefox-bin I see the default "X" icon.
Maybe the "elfnote" application can do something to an executable to
add icon data and let me to display the right icon when I use the
alt+tab hotkey of my kwin/kde window manager?
