[Is there] a [way] to change the icon of an executable?
Sure, but different window managers/desktop environments use different
ways.
[How can I] display the right icon when I use the alt+tab hotkey of my
kwin/kde window manager?
I don't know where KDE gets the pixmaps it uses for this subwindow. I
would guess that it looks in /usr/share/pixmaps first, based on an
experiment I just did: cd /usr/share/pixmaps/ ; cp mplayer.xpm xterm.xpm
, start xterm and try alt-tabbing to it. So try copying an appropriate
Firefox icon from wherever into /usr/share/pixmaps/ . HTH,
