How to update hardware detection and configuration?

Hello,

I tried to get help in an other forum for my issue "Problems to reinitialise proper hardware detection and configuration storage with SaX2". I hope to make more progress here.

I have updated my file "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" to the settings that are described by the article "http://susewiki.org/index.php?title=Setting_up_Logitech_MX_Mouse"; after I booted from a Knoppix 5.1 DVD.
But the mouse pointer will not move again.

How can I achieve to see the usual reactions for my input devices?
