No sir - not my real name - I am just a big Doug Adams fan. I remember
listening to the show on BBC shortwave as a younger guy. I loved it.
Also, it is a cool name , don't you think?
Thanks for the tip, but I got off my arse and studied up on
gconftool-2 and I think that with a little work, it will suit our
needs.
Thanks again.
PS - two heads are better than one.

Hello Everyone
Thanks for reading my note.
Hey, I want to ask if anyone has a reasonable way of doing this:
I want to automate the desktop install (GNOME 2) by taking an existing
configuration and 'cloning' it during an install. I know where all of
the configuration files live $HOME/.gnome2/session* .
[snip]
Typically there is a skeleton $HOME directory in /etc/skel/ that is
copied as each new user account is created. Modify that to suit your
needs.
Create users in the usual way with "useradd", see "man useradd" for
details.
Write a script to automate it, if desired. You might have to use
both of your heads for this Zaphod.
This is not really an X problem, another group might be more appropriate.
