Really Old X: 3.1 .. 3.6
Monolithic X: 4.0 .. 6.9
Modular X: 1.0 (==7.0) .. onward. No, I don't know why they did that.

Run "xdpyinfo". Look for "X.Org version".
version number: 11.0
X.Org version: 1.3.0
I still don't know.

The 11.0 refers to the version of the X protocol that the server is
using. This hasn't changed for 9 years and is not likely to change.
Xorg 1.3 == Xorg 7.3 AFAICT. HTH,
