Should be easy right (newbie)

I have an 40GB hard drive D: that is
unused on my windows xp home edition. Windows
resides on my C: drive. The D: is NTFS and all 40 GB
is partitioned. I would like to install Redhat 9 on D:
I do not care about sharing files between windows and linux.
I would also like to use all of D: for linux. Just boot from CD-ROM
and follow the GUI install right?

There is so much documentation
for installing Redhat on the partitioned hard drive
along side windows that I think I'm getting info overloaded.
Since I'm usuing a free drive I would think that most of the
problems would not occur. I'm getting lost in the details
